CPD – Stress to Safety with Somatics and Aromatics

Stress to Safety with Somatics and Aromatics CPD training course in brighton

Presented by Donna Robbins PGCE ITHMA dip MIFPA & Jo Kellett TIDHA MIFPA CIMI

A two-day practical CPD course, that will enhance your understanding of stress and how it affects your clients.

In this modern, fast paced and at times very challenging world all of us are affected by stress. UK figures suggest 74% have felt overwhelmed in the past year, more than 50% experience trauma at some point in their lives and 1 in 10 of us develop PTSD or C-PTSD.

Stress, trauma and complementary therapy support are of particular professional interest to Donna Robbins PGCE ITHMA. A contributor to Helen Nagle-Smith’s recent book ‘Aroma, aromatherapy and trauma’, Donna has over 25 years experience supporting clients with complex case histories in private practice, via NHS referrals and charitable organisations.

The course explores holistic pulsing, a form of somatic bodywork, and aromatics for stress, anxiety and trauma; factors that significantly impact health, well-being and coping mechanisms.

Sometimes called the “tai chi of massage”, pulsing has a gentle nurturing approach that utilizes continuous, rhythmic, wave-like rocking and shaking techniques. It aims to enhance connection between mind and body, inner awareness of chronic patterns of holding, release of physical tension and emotional stresses stored at cellular level.

This somatic style of working with the body facilitates embodiment, deeper personal connection, safety, balance and well-being. Whilst a standalone treatment in its own right, combing pulsing with the aromatic power of essential oils creates a deeply relaxing multisensory experience to further assist clients with integrative processing and moving beyond survival mode to a place of stillness and a more cohesive perception of the world.

Pulsing may be performed fully clothed or within a massage treatment. Students will have the opportunity to practice and experience both.

All students are required to participate in giving and receiving massage.
