BEAT THE HEAT!

Goodness its hot out there! Your essential oils can help you beat the heat when it’s hot, in a number of ways.

TO SOOTHE SUN KISSED SKIN

Lavender, Lavandula angustifolia, a natural analgesic and Roman Chamomile, Anthemis nobilis, a soothing anti-inflammatory, can be added to a vegetable oil and gently applied to areas of the skin that feels they’ve had too much sun. Apply twice a day.

To 20 ml of base oil add

3 drop of Roman Chamomile, Anthemis nobilis

2 drops of Lavender, Lavandula angustifolia

This is suitable for applying to the body. For the face you should only use two drops per 10 ml so one drop of each for a face blend.

TO COOL YOU DOWN

For those  of you who are on your feet over next few days it’s so lovely to cool them down after a long hot day.

Take a large bowl, big enough to fit your feet into, and add tepid water. Add 5 ml of vegetable oil and the following essential oils to your bowl, stir the water, place your feet in, sit back and relax!

Add 3 drops of Peppermint, Mentha piperita and 2 drops of Palmarosa, Cymbopogon martini. Both of these essential oils have cooling properties. Palmarosa is also a wonderful anti-fungal, so its excellent for foot health.

STUCK INDOORS?

If you have little or no access to an outside space or you are working indoors during the heat wave, why not put a diffuser on to freshen the air. Indoor spaces can get stuffy when it’s so hot outside.

Use the leaf or citrus essential oils to keep the air fresh and clear.

The leaf oils, like Eucalyptus, Eucalyptus globulus, Thyme, Thymus zygis CT linalool or Rosemary, Rosmarinus officinale are all very useful for easing stuffiness and keeping the space you are in fresh and clean. By adding a citrus oil, which all have uplifting and mood enhancing properties,  you will get through your day enhanced with a fresh bright aroma!

Why not try adding the following to your essential oil diffuser.

4 drops of Lemon Citrus limonum and 3 drops of Rosemary, Rosmarinus officinale. Refreshing and uplifting!

Whatever you are doing over the next week or so, keep hydrated and don’t forget to use sunscreen if you’re out and about.
