SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!

Change of Season

Spring is in the air, what a relief! I think the older I get, the more profoundly I feel the difference in the change of the seasons.
Spring surely has to be the best season, full of promise and new life, fresh and enticing. How lovely to be surrounded by buds bursting forth and spring flowers scattering the grass.

I am hoping you are feeling positive and somewhat renewed. If not Aromatherapy and Essential Oils can help shrug off those winter blues and help you approach the new season with a spring in your step!
How about vaporising a few oils to bring the spring into your home. One of my favourite spring blends is Geranium, Pelargonium graveolens and Grapefruit, Citrus paradisi. Put 5 drops of Grapefruit and 3 drops of Geranium into a burner or vaporiser and let the pleasant aromas fill your home. Grapefruit is a great oil for feeling refreshed and Geranium is balancing and harmonious.
Another great blend is Bergamot, Citrus Bergamia and Neroli, Citrus aurantium. Bergamot dispels gloomy thoughts and has a mild, dry citrus aroma. Neroli, the blossom of the orange tree, is sweet, creamy and beautifully fragrant . Put 2 drops of Neroli and 6 drops of Bergamot into your burner or vaporiser and again you will feel uplifted.
A massage at this time of year can also help you feel more positive, some people like to think of Spring as time to detox a little and think about getting out to do more exercise or put away those winter comfort foods. An Aromatherapy massage can go some way to helping you feel refreshed.
Your therapist should make a bespoke blend for your needs for that session but you may want to try these oils in a base oil for a body oil to apply at home.

Spring Essential Oils

Atlas Cedarwood, Cedrus atlantica is a gentle oil which may boost circulation and aid lymphatic congestion. Again combined with Grapefruit you have a refreshing stimulating blend. To 25ml of vegetable oil add 3 drops of Grapefruit and 2 drops of Atlas Cedarwood and apply to your body. Use the blend within 4 weeks.
Another of my favourite essential oils to use in the Spring is Coriander Seed, Coriandrum sativum, it has a woody, slightly sweet and spicy aroma that helps digestion and assists with fluid retention. Follow the instructions above and replace the drops of Cedarwood with Coriander.
Enjoy the Spring, get out and about, take note of the changes around you, I hope you will feel positive and renewed?
I will leave you with a quote from a poem by Shelley
And spring arose on the garden fair, Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere; And each flower and herb on Earth’s dark breast rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.’
