HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE MENOPAUSE?

Aromatherapy & Essential Oils for your Menopause

I recently ran a workshop where I was talking about using essential oils through the seasons of life; from puberty through to fertility into pregnancy and beyond menopause.

I asked the women present to comment on how they felt about where they were in their hormonal season – Were they in their fertile years; were they approaching Menopause; had they noticed changes? It was so refreshing to see the older women were happy with where they were, the slightly younger women were a little more hesitant; others said they were looking forward to the change.

Changes

I’ve been considering changes recently, having moved house, started a new relationship and even updated my web site. Change can be scary, but also life affirming and really quite good for you!

Menopause is a natural stage of a women’s life – not something to be fixed or altered. We have a few women in the media limelight who are refreshingly not turning to cosmetic procedures to enhance themselves but embracing their changing bodies and looks. It’s up to all of us to be positive about what lies ahead for our daughters, nieces and younger female friends.

But there are some inconvenient changes and essential oils can be helpful in alleviating some of the common symptoms of the Menopause.

Many essential oils have properties that can be beneficial to the skin, others are potentially great for balancing the hormones. Whist others can boost self-esteem and bring a sense of harmony.

One group of oils – the flowers, are essentially feminine in their aroma and can be used for many of the symptoms associated with the Menopause. Let me list a few for you……

Flower Essential Oils – Feminine & Beautiful

Rose Otto –Rosa damascena – A beautiful essential oil, euphoric and a skin tonic.

Neroli – Citrus aurantium – May help with feelings of depression and again a wonderful skin tonic

Jasmine – Jasminum officinalis May increase loss of libido and brings optimism

Lavender – Lavandula angustifolia – An excellent sedative and good for relieving stress

These are just a tiny sample of the oils that can be used. At each treatment I will consider what you need and how you want to feel to choose a blend that’s just right for you on that day.
