HOW DO YOU LOOK AFTER YOURSELF?

I was recently asked to contribute to an online article about ‘self-care’, what are the things I do to look after myself?
As a health practitioner I am often talking to my clients about what they do to support their emotional health and well-being, so it’s important for me to set an example and try to improve my own well-being.
We live in a time where we are reminded about the stresses of modern life on a daily basis. We all know what we should ideally be doing, but we often fall into the ‘oh well I’ll do that tomorrow, next week, etc….. mind set.

I’ve had a wonderfully busy year, I’ve written a book, contributed to two others as a guest author, generated two new CPD courses, and created some wonderful blends with Tisserand Aromatherapy and their collaborative partnership with Nat Geo, appeared on The Chrissy B Show talking about using essential oils plus continued with my private practice and seeing clients…. it’s been a busy one!

But as the year draws to an end, I feel the need to reflect and take stock. I do feel energised and grateful for the opportunities that have come my way this last year. But I must keep in perspective what I need to fulfil these obligations.
For me, using my essential oils is going to be a large part of that and combined with massage, well it’s a win win situation. However, having a massage daily is off the table (if only!!!) But using my essential oils in a diffuser is quick and effective.
I often start the week with an admin day, that may sound dull, but this is great opportunity to have a diffuser on whilst I work, such an easy thing to do.
So, If I’m feeling a little unmotivated, it is Monday morning after all, I will usually put on a stimulating and invigorating blend to get the grey matter working!
In your diffuser put the following essential oils:
4 drops of Grapefruit Citrus paradisi
2 drops of May Chang Litsea cubeba
1 drop of Geranium Pelargonium graveolens
1 drop of Peppermint Mentha piperita
I do love the citrus and floral notes, this combination has a softness to it but a zingy ‘kick’ with the addition of the Peppermint and May Chang.
Its great to experiment with your oils, think about what you are trying to achieve with your blend and go for it!
Look after yourself, find the time to re-charge and renew.
I’m always interested to know what blends you use and why so don’t hesitate to get in touch!
Cheers, Jo
