The Healing Power of Scent – BOOK REVIEW

The Healing Power of Scent – BOOK REVIEW

What a joy to receive a copy of The Healing Power of Scent written by my friend and colleague Ellen Rowland.

Ellen is a practicing Aromatherapist and soon to be Herbalist who takes us on a personal journey of her story with plant medicine.

She takes us back to the beginning of this journey, right back to her childhood and explores her early memories of aromas and what they mean to her. Our sense of smell is so closely linked to memories that it is wonderful to read about these early experiences.

Ellen goes onto explain how aromatherapy works, why essential oils are so powerful and highlights fifteen essential oils so that you can start to explore the wonderful power of essential oils.

The book is full of helpful recipes and ideas and how to incorporate essential oils into your life, clearly set out with methods, measurements and best applications. There are wonderful practical exercises to encourage you to explore this powerful medium.

There is a section on safety, paramount, as natural does not always equal safe! Essential oils need to be respected, and Ellen sets out this important information clearly.

There are countless references for you to explore further and signposting to even more information on aromatherapy and the use of essential oils, citing well known authors and educators within the field of aromatherapy.

If you have any interest in plant medicine then this book definitely belongs on your bookshelf!
